About Fosse & Fen Landscapes

Our story

Started in Lincoln in 2009, still here

Owen Marsh set up Fosse & Fen in 2009 after years of working for other landscapers. He had seen good designs let down by rushed groundwork, and jobs passed from one subcontractor to the next. So he started a company that would do the whole job itself.

The name comes from the two landscapes either side of the city. The Fosse Way is the old Roman road that runs dead straight into Lincoln. The fens stretch out to the south and east. We work across both, and the team has grown to fourteen, all employed by us.

Our show garden

Come and stand on it before you choose

On the edge of Lincoln we have a show garden where you can walk on the paving, sit under an oak pergola and see different stones side by side in daylight. It is open by appointment, so there is always someone there to talk you through it.

Most people visit after the design visit, once they have a rough idea of what they want. Bring photos, measurements or just your questions.

“I still visit every job. If our name is on the board outside your house, I want to know the garden is right.”

Owen started Fosse & Fen in 2009. He does many of the design visits himself and checks in on every build until handover.

How we work

What we hold ourselves to

Build it once, properly

We dig deeper and compact longer than the job strictly needs, because fixing it later costs everyone more.

Say what it costs

Fixed, itemised quotes. If something unexpected turns up underground, we stop and agree it with you first.

Leave it tidy

Protected drives, swept paths and a clear route to your door, every evening until we hand over.

FAQs

Questions people ask us

Anything else, call us on 01632 960418 or use the contact form.

Which areas do you cover?

Lincoln and the villages around it, including Nettleham, Heighington, Washingborough, Skellingthorpe, North Hykeham, Woodhall Spa, Tattershall, Coningsby and Sleaford. If you are a little further out, give us a call.

Do you use subcontractors?

No. Our own team does every stage, from the dig-out to the last plant. The people who quote your job are the people who build it.

How does the free design visit work?

We visit at a time that suits you, usually for about an hour. We measure up, look at levels, drainage and access, and talk through what you want. There is no charge and no obligation.

When do I pay?

We take a deposit to book your start date, a stage payment partway through larger builds and the balance when the job is finished and you are happy with it. It is all set out in your quote.

What does the 10-year guarantee cover?

Our workmanship on every installation for ten years: the bases, the laying, the frames and the fixings. Materials also carry their own manufacturer warranties, which we register for you.

Can I visit your show garden?

Yes, by appointment. It is on the edge of Lincoln. Call 01632 960418 or send us a message and we will find a time that suits you.
