Natural turf and artificial grass

A lawn laid on a proper base

Whether you want real grass or artificial, a lawn is only as good as the ground underneath it. We clear the old lawn, sort out the levels and drainage, and lay a base that suits the surface you choose.

Prepared ground

We lift the old lawn, dig out where needed and level the ground before anything is laid.

Fresh rolled turf

Quality turf delivered the day we lay it, rolled in, butted tight and watered in.

Drains well

Free-draining bases for artificial grass, and improved soil and levels for real lawns.

Neat edges

Curved or straight lawn edges in sett, brick, timber or steel, so the lawn holds its shape.

Natural turf for a real lawn

Nothing beats a striped lawn on a summer evening. We rotavate and level the ground, add topsoil where it is thin, and lay fresh rolled turf the day it arrives, with tight joins so it knits together quickly.

We water it in and leave you with clear aftercare: when to water, when to make the first cut and when it is ready for children and dogs, usually within a few weeks.

Artificial grass where real grass struggles

Artificial grass earns its keep where real grass struggles: small courtyards, shady corners under trees and lawns that turn to mud every winter. It stays green and usable all year with a brush and the odd rinse.

Cheap artificial grass fails because of what is under it. We dig out the old lawn, lay a compacted, free-draining base and fix the joins so you never see them. Better grasses mix several blade colours and have a brown thatch at the base, which stops them looking like a carpet.

What you can count on

Three promises we make to every customer, written into every quote.

A fixed quote, in writing

The price we give you after the 3D design is the price you pay. If we find something underground that nobody could have seen, we stop, show you, and agree any change before we carry on.

A tidy site, every day

We protect your drive and lawn, keep materials stacked in one place and sweep up before we leave each evening.

Owen on every job

Our founder visits every site during the build as well as at the quote. If something needs deciding, you are talking to the person who can decide it.

They dug out the whole back garden and had the patio, lawn and lighting finished in four weeks. The 3D drawing meant there were no surprises. It looks exactly like the drawing.

FAQs

Turfing questions

If your question is not here, call us on 01632 960418.

Ask us a question
Should I choose real turf or artificial grass?

Real turf looks and feels like a lawn because it is one, and it suits sunny gardens you are happy to mow. Artificial grass suits small, shady or heavily used spaces where real grass struggles. We talk it through at the design visit, and some gardens use both.

When can I walk on new turf?

Light use after two to three weeks, once the roots have taken. We give you a simple plan for watering and the first cut so it establishes well.

How long does artificial grass last?

A good artificial lawn on a proper base should last 10 to 15 years. The base matters as much as the grass, which is why we always dig out and compact it.

Is artificial grass all right for dogs?

Yes. The base and backing are permeable, so liquid drains through, and you pick up anything else as normal. A rinse with the hose now and then keeps it fresh.

Can you lay turf or artificial grass on a sloping garden?

Yes. Gentle slopes can be turfed as they are. Steeper ones we level first with retaining edges or steps, so the lawn is comfortable to use and easy to mow or brush.
